The Children’s Special Needs Network is excited to announce that the 19th Annual Conference is almost here! This Conference is free to all families and professionals. You can earn up to 7 CEU”s or CPU’s. Lunch will be provided and there will be plenty of fun activities for children and childcare is free! Some of the activities include bounce houses from Astro Events, facepainting, arts & crafts and many more engaging children’s activities.
This years Conference is on October 15th at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor from 9-4 with registration from 8-9. There will be over 40 various topics to choose from such as: transitional programs and services, vocational training and employment options, recreational panel, rights laws and regulations of children with disabilities, social skills, people first language, equine therapies, Meidicaid Waiver programs, caregiver tips and managing frustrations, mother’s panel, sibling support, navigating the maze of funding for adaptive equipment and understanding the ABC’s of behavior. In addition, CSNN has invited many agencies and local vendors from the Central Texas area to come out and provide resources and networking opportunities for our families and professionals. CSNN Annual Conference will be October 15, 2011. It will be held at University of Mary Hardin Baylor. CSNN is pleased to announce that Seth and Melanie Fowler will be our Keynote speakers for this year’s Annual Conference.
Brief Biography on Seth & Melanie Fowler:
Seth Fowler was raised in Boerne, Texas and attended The University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Corporate Communications. After college, he worked with various companies in a sales position. In 2001 he moved to Ft. Worth, Texas to be closer to his soon-to-be bride, Melanie, who was attending Texas Woman’s University for graduate school. In 2002, Seth and Melanie were married. In 2004 he started working for the locally owned and operated home building company, Village Homes as a sales consultant. William Seth Fowler was born to Melanie and Seth Fowler on November 18, 2005—the same exact date as Carey Seth Fowler…so father and son share the same birthday! In 2009, HD Homes was created as a branch of Village Homes in Ft. Worth and Seth was asked to head the Sales & Marketing divisions of the company. Seth currently is the Director of Sales and Marketing for HD Homes in Ft. Worth, Texas. Aside from his job, Seth is active with The Child Study Center on the fund raising and planning committees for the Puzzle Scuttle 5K family/fun run and the Party on the Patio. Seth is also active in the community as the Vice Chairman of The Mayor’s Committee on Person’s with Disabilities in Ft. Worth and the Chairman of the Housing Sub-Committee on Person’s with Disabilities in Ft. Worth.
Melanie Fowler was raised in Shreveport, Louisiana attended Louisiana State University with a Bachelors of Science in Speech Pathology. After college she moved to Denton, Texas and enrolled in the graduate program of Texas Woman’s University to obtain a graduate degree in Deaf Education. After college she worked in the Southlake Carroll Independent School District as a Sign Language teacher as a foreign language. Her next position was with Castleberry Independent School District where she worked as a Diagnostician until she had William in 2002. Seth and Melanie have a daughter, Margaret, who is now three-years-old. Since the birth of William, Melanie has worked at Ridglea Presbyterian Church as a pre-school teacher. On top of everything, she is an accomplished artist, great cook, friend to many, chauffer and oh yeah…she wrote a book.
